*General Information for Cesarean Section

1. Basic description of the operation

Cesarean section is a surgical method of childbirth in which the baby is delivered through incisions in the abdomen and uterus. It is usually performed when vaginal delivery is unsafe or not possible, such as fetal distress, stalled labor, or maternal health conditions.

 

2. Obstetric and medical procedures

-Full obstetric evaluation by OB/GYN

-Ultrasound and fetal position check

-Anesthesia consultation (spinal or general)

-Blood tests and pre-op preparation

-Pre-surgery medications

-Incisions in abdomen and uterus to deliver baby

-Wound care and bleeding control

-Internal medicine consultation for underlying conditions (diabetes, hypertension, e.g.)

 

3. Duration of hospitalization

Hospital stay usually lasts 2–4 days depending on mother’s condition.

Discharge after monitoring pain, healing, and overall health.

 

4. How to accept

Referral from OB/GYN specialist

Hospital registration and evaluation

Signing informed surgical consent

Required lab tests and anesthesia consultation

 

5. Post-discharge care

Take painkillers and antibiotics as prescribed

Avoid heavy activity for a few weeks

Keep incision clean and dry

Watch for signs of infection: fever, discharge, or severe pain

Follow-up visits to check uterus and recovery

 

6. Follow-up visits

First visit 7–10 days after surgery to check incision

Second visit 4–6 weeks post-op to assess uterus and overall health

Family planning or future pregnancy consultation if needed
