Long live the memory of Dr. Gholam Ali Beski, the father of Iran's nature
Dr. Gholam Ali Beski, who is nicknamed “Father of Iran’s Nature” and “Baba Beski”, was born in 1310 AH in “Besk” village of Sabzevar city. After receiving a diploma from Haj Mulla Hadi Sabzevari High School and successfully passing the national medical exam, he left for the capital and with unceasing efforts, he was able to obtain his doctorate from Tehran University.
Dr. Beski’s great interest in pursuing higher education led him to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. In 1345, he graduated from Tehran University in this field, and following his philanthropic interests, which was the result of his social and mystical studies, he chose the city of Gonbad Kavus as the location of his medical services. In 1348, Dr. Beski, with the help of his wife, Mrs. Shafiqa Goladhar, who studied nursing and midwifery, founded the first private hospital and maternity hospital in Mazandaran province at that time and devoted all his efforts to help the patients and mothers of this deprived area.
During this period, Dr. Beski was influenced by the thoughts and ideas of thinkers such as Maulana, Saadi, Hafez, Gandhi, Dr. Albert Schweitzer and Einstein, and he was inclined to benevolent attitudes that put respect for fellow human beings and striving for spiritual and physical excellence at the top of thought and action.
It was in line with such goals that Dr. Beski contributed to the construction of Gandhi’s building and Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s shelter. Serai Gandhi provided and continues to provide this opportunity for the intelligent children and students of the region who are unable to continue their education due to deprivation and poverty. The vision of the Albert Schweitzer shelter was to reduce human suffering among patients who were suffering enormously due to cancer. Along with these projects, Dr. Beski contributed to the improvement of education and upbringing of the region by building a school and a swimming pool, and later, by setting up the first orphanage in Gonbad Kavus city, he made his philanthropic interests manifest like a rainbow.
Non-stop work and effort and many insomnias in the turbulent medical and social path always put Dr. Beski’s health at risk. But thinking about his physical condition opened a new chapter of “biological” thoughts for him. By studying the secrets of nature and the mystery of creation in the life and health of humans, he came to the belief that the irreplaceable globe of the earth needs protection and support for survival. After that, he devoted all his energy and resources to protecting the environment. Among other things, by translating and publishing the book “How to Love the Planet Earth” and holding numerous televised meetings and seminars, achieve the work of the great culture in informing the society.
Dr. Beski, with passionate perseverance to generalize his findings and always expressing his concern about the indifference of people and officials to the vital issue of environmental protection, donated his property in order to help environmental activities such as tree planting in the extreme parts of the country.
By reviewing his circumstances, we find out that this great man has been feeling and pointing out the dangers that our society is dealing with more than ever. For example, the problem of water scarcity that fuels war between human populations is the result of a massive and deep-rooted neglect of this vital issue. If proper attention is not paid to Dr. Beski’s teachings and advice, it will be too late and irreparable damages will be inflicted on this society.
I hope that the intentions of this great and well-meaning man, the worthy gardener of this country, will come true with the cooperation of each one of us.
